Join the Adventure... The Ultimate Adventure June 5, 2010

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the minimum pledge amount in order to receive a tax receipt?
Bryony House is pleased to provide an income tax receipt for donations of $10 or more.

2. What is the deadline for teams to drop off their pledge sheets and registration money?
Registration fee of $25 per team member plus a minimum pledge amount of $100.00 per team member is required. Early Registration date is May 14, 2010; if you register your team AND pay your registration fees by this date, your team earns an extra 100 points! Final Registration date is June 2, 2008 on a first come, first serve basis. There is a maximum of 25 teams. If you raise $125 and submit your May 31, 2010, the registration fee will be waived.
Teams must drop off all of their pledge sheets and money by 5pm June 4, 2006 to Bryony House Administrative Office, 3399 Novalea Dr, Halifax NS. Additional donations are always welcome after that date.

3. Where does the money go that is raised in this "signature" event?
All funds raised will go to Bryony House a 24-bed shelter for abused women and their children. For additional information on Bryony House, please visit our website at www.bryonyhouse.ca.

4. What happens at registration?
At registration, teams check in, drop off any extra points items collected and any additional donations collected. Team photos and vehicle photos will be taken.
This is also a chance to mingle with fellow teams, preview the costume competition and have a pre-event snack. Teams will receive their passports and the game rules and head out to start The Ultimate Adventure.

5. How can teams earn extra points?
Register your team and pay your registration fee before the early registration deadline of May 16 to earn 100 bonus points!
Prior to Ultimate Adventure day, teams will receive a list of specific personal care items which they can arrange to have donated in order to receive extra points. Please note there is a limit to the number of extra points you can collect prior to Ultimate Adventure day.
This is not required activity and there will be plenty of ways on Ultimate Adventure day to earn extra points. The best way to earn extra points is to show up on event day with a creative costume and decorated car.

6. What is the procedure, once we have finished the pit stops and completed the scavenger hunt?
Once you have completed the Ultimate Adventure, head to the Oasis Pub & Eatery to have your score tallied and enjoy some refreshments. Teams must report back by 4:30 or they will lose half their points. Anyone arriving after 5:00 will forfeit all points earned.

7. What happens in the event of bad weather?
The Ultimate Adventure will take place rain or shine. If you decide not to attend please notify your team captain. In the past we have had teams still participate when short one team member - the remaining member had to complete each task twice. Sorry, no refunds.

8. Where do we park?
Team check-in will take place in the gym at Bloomfield Centre at 2786 Agricola St (corner of Almon and Agricola). Watch for the signs and banner. You may park anywhere on the property, except where it is marked Royal Bank and on nearby side streets. Please do not park illegally. Please do not be late for the check-in. If you are decorating your team car, please try to park in the front parking lot, facing Agricola Street.

9. How will we identify a pit stop?
All pit stops will be identified with a large sign displaying a large X and the name "The Ultimate Adventure". There will be a sample at the team check- in on Ultimate Adventure day.

10. What areas of the city does the hunt encompass?
Halifax Regional Municipality.

11. What happens if we have an accident?
Each team member must sign a waiver and release form when they register for the Ultimate Adventure as included in your team registration package.
Bryony House and its sponsors assume no responsibility for damages or injury. Spotters will be watching for any traffic violations and seat belt use. Your team will be disqualified if in violation. A first aid station will be located in the gym at the Bloomfield Center. Have fun but please ride and play safe. Have fun but please ride and play safe.

12. What should I wear?
Team Costumes encouraged. Prizes will be awarded! Dress casually, wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for moderate athletics.

13. Do you provide water/snacks throughout the day?
Limited snacks and water will be provided during the registration period only. Teams are encouraged to bring their own lunch and sufficient water. A meal will be provided at the end event at Oasis Pub & Eatery.

14. What will I need to bring the day of the Ultimate Adventure?
You may want to pack some snack food, lunch, water, dry clothing, rain gear and an extra pair of shoes.

15. Is there a meal provided at the closing event?
At the end of the race all teams will join for an awards ceremony and meal at the Oasis Pub & Eatery. Participants can select a meal from a limited menu.

16. I have food allergy(s) who should I contact?
You can disclose your food allergy on your registration form. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact Anita, Fund Development Coordinator at 429-9001.

17. What is the registered charitable # for Bryony House?

18. How can I get more involved with Bryony House fundraising events?
To volunteer at a Bryony House event, please email funddev@bryonyhouse.ca or contact Anita, Fund Development Coordinator at 429-9001.

19. I understand that some of the pit stops may be physically challenging, are allowances made for pregnancy, disabilities?
Please contact Anita, Fund Development Coordinator at 429-9001 in advance of registration to discuss. Participants sign a waiver and are responsible for their own safety while participating in the Ultimate Adventure.
In the past we had women participate who were pregnant. At any pit stop that was reasonably difficult (eating challenge, bike riding challenge), we allowed another teammate to participate twice - this individual must be selected in advance of The Ultimate Adventure.
Please note arrangements for those with special needs, must be made in advance of the day of The Ultimate Adventure.
